Club Pup Kids Camps 2008

2008 Camp Dates:
Companion: June 9-13(FULL), June 23-27(FULL), July 7-11(FULL), or July 21-26(FULL)
Gameskills: June 16-20
(FULL) or July 14-18(FULL)
Note: If you would like to be put on a waiting list for one of the remaining camps that are full, fill out the registration form and indicate which camp(s) you would like.  If we receive a cancellation, you will be contacting according to when the registration came in and given a chance to complete your registration with a full payment for the camp(s).  If you are interested in possible camps in the Fall 2008, fill out the registration form and indicate Fall Camps.

The relationship of a child with their dog can teach so much about respect, discipline, communication and responsibility.  Hearts and Paws Club Pup Camps create an atmosphere to:

bulletStrengthen the relationship between the child and their dog.
bulletInstruct how the dog’s mind perceives the world physically, mentally and emotionally.
bulletImpart skills necessary to work with dogs as serious hobby or potential career.
bulletEncourage Creativity, Problem Aolving and Teamwork through group projects and games.

Designed for children 9-14 yrs.  We put teams together according to age with appropriate challenges.  A ratio of one counselor per 5 participants.  Limit of 15 dog/handler teams.

 *Afternoon Activity from 2-4 p.m., Monday-Thursday.  Dogs are prescreened for retrieving desire and no fear of water at interviews.  Additional $25.00 fee.

Camp Cost:

One Week: $275.00
Two Weeks: $525.00

A $100 deposit per week is required to secure registration (non-refundable within 3 weeks of camp start unless slot can be filled).  Balance is due during the interview.
Returning Camper/Sibling receives an additional $25.00 discount per camp.

Schedule:

Monday - Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Drop offs between 7:30 - 7:50 a.m.
Pick ups between 3:00 - 3:30 p.m.

Please let us know if you need to pick up earlier for a specific reason.  The afternoon activities are designed around team efforts and missing members effect the outcome.

Campers bring their own lunches: Hearts and Paws will provide juice, water and healthy snacks for morning and afternoon breaks, plus pizza and soft drinks for lunch on Friday.

Interview

Campers must have an interview with dogs, including rescue dog recipients.
This interview is to:

bulletAssess the dogs temperament in a group**
bulletAssess the dog’s physical ability to participate in the activities**
bulletDiscuss safe handling techniques and dog body language
bulletPresent equipment needs
bulletSign Medical Release Form

**If your personal dog is possibly not physically or socially suited for camp, we can arrange a rescue dog from a no-kill organization for your camper to train.

If you are using a rescue or foster dog the interview must not exceed 2 weeks before the camp date. We will notify you of interview times and dates after application and deposit are received.

Interviews are usually held on Saturday afternoons in groups of six and take approximately an hour. Please try to schedule your interview as close to your camp date as possible. Dogs must be 6 months or older at the start of camp to participate.
