What is an AKC Trick Dog Title?
An AKC title is similar to a diploma. It shows that you and your dog have worked hard in a specific area, like tricks, and have passed a test proving your abilities in that area. The AKC Trick Dog Titles are open to all dogs – both pure breeds and mixed breeds. There are five levels of Trick Dog Titles, starting with Novice Trick Dog. For more information, visit the AKC’s Trick Dog Title Page: https://www.akc.org/sports/trick-dog/about-trick-dog/
What is a Canine Good Citizen?
A Canine Good Citizen is a dog who has demonstrated it is well-mannered by passing a 10-item test. Many therapy dog organizations require that the dogs on their therapy teams have passed the Canine Good Citizen test. For more information, visit the AKC’s Canine Good Citizen page.
Does the AKC have requirements or costs associated with these programs?
In order to receive a title, dogs need to be registered with the AKC, but it is not required to attend camp. All dogs can be registered with AKC, whether they are pure or mixed breeds. You can register your dog here: https://www.akc.org/register/dog/

AKC charges a small fee ($20) each for processing the Trick Dog Title and Canine Good Citizen.
